C 221 Honey Color Analyzer & Refractometer |
Honey color
varies naturally in a wide range of tonalities, ranging from light
yellow to amber, dark amber and black in extreme cases. Sometimes green
or red hues may occur. Color of untreated honey depends on botanical
origin: for this reason, color is very important for definition and
commercial classification of monofloral honeys. Honey darkens with
age, and other changes in color may result from beekeeper's interventions
and from different ways of conservation (E.G.: use of old honeycombs,
contact with metals, high temperatures, exposure to light, etc).
The primary characteristic for commercial honey classification is
color. Color classes are expressed in millimeters (mm) Pfund grades,
compared to an analytical grade Glycerol Standard Reference.
|
 |
|
|
The C 221 portable microprocessor analyzer
measures the percent of light transmittance of honey compared to analyitcal,
reagent grade glycerol. The transmittance value allows for identification
of the honey Pfund grade. The intrument directly displays the measurement
result expressed in mm Pfund.
Measurements are made using matched square
optical cuvets having a 10mm light path.
Display Codes aid the user in routine operations.
The C 221 features an auto-off feature that
will turn the instrument of after 10 minutes of non-use.
The companion Honey Refractometer for measuring water
content is rugged and simple to use with easily identifiable readings
. |
|
C 221 is supplied complete
with the Honey Refractometer, (5) sample cuvets, (1)
light shield cap, (1) 30ml bottle of glycerol, (2) 9V batteries, 12VDC
transformer and instruction manual, and quick reference cards for the C
221 and Honey Refractometer

What maple producers have been waiting for! Simply get your digital
reading with push button ease and compare the digital readout to the grading
chart printed on the face of your meter. Measurements are performed by using
matched square optical cuvets having a 10mm light path. These maple syrup
transmittance analyzers measure the percent light transmittance of maple syrup
as compared to analytical reagent glycerol. The transmittance value displayed
allows easy and indisputable identification of syrup quality class.
The HI 95759 and HI 95760 handheld, portable maple syrup
transmittance analyzers are high precision, USDA (HI 95759) or Canada
Federal and Quebec (HI 95760) compliant photometers that bring judging
"by eye" to an end. Three button operation, battery powered with a rugged
carrying case makes these meters ideal for extended field use.
These meters are supplied complete with six sample cuvets, one light
shield cap, two 5 mL syringes, 30 mL of glycerol, one 9 volt battery,
instruction manual and a heavy-duty carrying case.

Chloride ions are one of the major inorganic anions in water and wastewater.
Although high concentrations of chloride in water are not known to be toxic
to humans, its regulation is mainly due to adverse effects on taste.
It is essential to monitor chloride concentrations in boiler systems to prevent
metal parts being damaged. In high levels, chloride can corrode stainless steel.
The level of chloride concentrations in boiler and cooling towers varies from
small quantities to very high levels. Furthermore high levels of chloride can
be toxic to plant life.
Drinking water: Chloride is a common non-toxic material present in small amounts
in drinking water and produces a detectable salty taste at the aesthetic objective
level of 250 mg/L (limit referred to the EPA Maximum Contaminant Level [MCL]).
Measured levels are normally under 20 mg/L (ppm).
