Description
Lundahl Instruments controller/sensor combinations provide
a reliable yet simple solution for a wide range of applications. Models are available with
program options which allow the controllers to display distance, level, volume (for five
standard tank shapes), differential and open channel flow.
Controller output options include four trip points which
are NPN transistors or relays. These can be configured to control pumps, alarms, valves or
serve as input to PLC's and computer interfaces. Analog output options are also available
including 4 to 20mA, 0 to 20mA, 0 to 5 V DC or 0 to 10 V DC. They are available with
either an LCD or LED display and are powered by either 110/220 V AC or 12 to 24 V DC.
Applications
The DCR series controllers combine with the DST series
sensors to provide a rugged and reliable non-contact sensor system that is easily
programmed, requires little or no maintenance and is flexible enough for use in a wide
range of applications. The controllers have a large display to show readings and
parameters. Programming is accomplished via the built-in keyboard. The programming allows
for setting of trip points, scaling of analog outputs and application customization such
as filtering, temperature compensation, and "AutoSense" Software to
provide accurate measurements in the toughest conditions. The controller and sensor can be
separated up to 2000 feet.
Typical Applications Include:
Monitoring Levels in a Stilling Well
Monitoring Open Channel Flow see below
Monitoring Flow on Flumes and Weirs
The DCR-1003/1004 controller provides local indication of
flow rates through a flume or weir. Coupled with a rugged DST-1002 or DST-1007 sensor the
system provides reliable flow data with resolution to 0.01 feet. The controller can
display the flow rate in customer specified units such as MGD or GPM. Alarms can be
programmed for low or high flow conditions as well as sensor failure or loss of echo. This
system is ideal when interfaced with a data logger or other data acquisition system. The
non-contact DST sensor allows for operation without a stilling well and is highly
desirable when monitoring material flows that may clog or plug mechanical and contact
devices.

Systems
The ODC/ODS obstacle detection system is designed to
provide a reliable non-contact safety system for automated guided vehicles (AGV's). Over
10 years of experience with OEM customers has led to the development of this off-the-shelf
system. The system consists of one ODC controller and two banks of ODS sensors. Multiple
banks ensure safe operation for both forward and reverse travel. This system is extremely
flexible with microprocessor control. The ODC controller can be programmed to operate
reliably with most any AGV configuration. Where a non-contact solution is important, the
ODC/ODS sensor system is the answer to your collision avoidance needs.
Applications
The Lundahl Ultrasonic Obstacle Detection System was
designed specifically for preventing collisions on self guided and automated vehicles.
When objects are located within the travel path of a vehicle, the ultrasonic sensors will
detect the distance and the controller will use this information to slow and stop the
vehicle before a collision occurs.
The controller is specifically designed to interface the
ODS sensor with the vehicle control system. It features a self test relay that assures
proper system operation and stops the vehicle if the system fails. The vehicle computer
can select between two sensor banks (forward and reverse) by using the bank select input
on the ODC-1002. For large vehicles two or more controllers may be clock synced together
making it possible to operate additional sensors.
Typical applications include:
Collision Avoidance - see below
Automated Fork Lifts
Pick and Place Systems
Transfer Cars
Collision Avoidance with ODC/ODS
The ODC/ODS system is an off-the-shelf collision avoidance
system designed for use on automated guided vehicles. This unique system operates two
banks of sensors one each for forward and reverse travel. An input from the vehicle
controller signals which sensor bank is active based on the direction of travel. If an
object is detected in the vehicle path, the two outputs will first slow and then stop the
vehicle. User programmable filtering controls the response time of the system and helps
eliminate false tripping. The flexibility of this system allows individual transducers to
be shut down by the vehicle controller at locations where a fixed target is detected and
must be ignored.

ultrasonic technology to provide a non-contact method of determining
distance or level measurements. STI Ultrasonic Level Sensors are designed
for tank/bin continuous level measurement and environmental monitoring,
the LPU-2127's versatility, low maintenance and non-contact operation
makes it ideal for a variety of applications and harsh environments. The

These STI miniature liquid level switches have been
designed for reliable operation in small tanks and containers. Their
rugged design and careful engineering make them the perfect solution for
OEM and large volume applications. The stem of these STI miniature liquid
level switches contains a hermetically sealed reed switch. The float
contains a permanent magnet. As the float rises or falls with the level of
the liquid, the reed switch is activated by the magnet. On most models,
the operation of the switch, normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC),
is easily changed by removing a retaining clip and inverting the float.
STI introduces LF Series Miniature Liquid
