BIDDLE Cable Route Tracer
Energized Cable Route Tracer
• Lightweight,
battery-operated
• Locates, traces and measures depth of buried power
cables
• Two sensitivity ranges |
|
|
The Biddle Cable Route Tracer is designed to
locate, trace and measure the depth of buried energized power
cables. The heart of the instrument is a compact, all-steel
control box. It is attached to a precision-wound, swivel-mounted
detecting coil that operates from three basic positions:
• Horizontal: for maximum deflection over the cable
• Vertical: for a null over the cable
• 45° angle: for a null at a horizontal distance from the cable
that is equivalent to the cable depth
The receiver of the locator features a filtering circuit that
responds only to the existing electrical energy radiating from the
buried cable. The chronic problem of identification in congested
areas is eliminated because the receiver is insensitive to
telephone lines, gas and water pipes, and steel reinforcing.

Cable Route Tracer

• Extremely lightweight receiver
|

|
|
The AccuTrace Cable Route Tracer consists of
a transmitter, which energizes the line with a traceable signal,
and a portable receiver, which detects the signal. The
transmitter can energize the line either by magnetic induction
from a built-in antenna or by direct conductive connection to
the metallic line.
Energizing the line conductively provides increased tracing
distance and minimizes signal coupling to other lines. Inductive
coupling, which does not require a mechanical connection to the
line, permits a buried line to be traced without uncovering or
de-energizing it.
The transmitter provides a simple LO/HI pushbutton to adjust the
transmitted signal's strength, and a PULSE button for battery
conservation and easy identification of the signal.
The receiver can be used to trace lines using either peaks
(detection of the maximum signal) or nulls (detection of the
minimum, or zero, signal).
The antenna is swivel-mounted for operation in vertical,
horizontal or 45 mode used to calculate depth. The receiver
provides audible and visual indication of detected signal
strength. Simple controls adjust sensitivity and amplification,
and a jack provides for audio output to an optional headset.
Standard AA batteries provide up to30 hours of continuous
operation. When the receiver is not in use, the telescoping
handle retracts for convenient, compact storage

BIDDLE Split-box Pipe and Cable Locator

BIDDLE Split-box Pipe and Cable Locator
Energized or de-energized lines tracing
Conductive or inductive coupling
Peak and null detection capabilities
Hand-held and lightweight
Solid construction in a tough, plastic housing
The Biddle Split-box Pipe and Cable Locator is a hand-held instrument in the
classic "split-box" design, consisting of a transmitter and a
receiver. The instrument traces underground conductive networks such as water
and gas mains, telephone, cable TV, and electric power cables. It determines
buried lines depth and locates underground metallic masses such as valve caps
and manhole covers.
Designed with patented super-inductive technology, the Split-box Pipe and Cable
Locator is lightweight, portable, and easy to use. For easy transport, the
instrument and accessories are supplied with a protective tote bag.

Cable Height Meter
• Dramatically
reduces measuring time
• Inherently safe
• Designed for ease-of-use
• Hand-held portability
• Calibration and maintenance free operation
• No physical connection to cables or wires
• Measures the height of up to six overhead cables

|
|
The Biddle CHM Series of Cable Height
Meters utilize ultrasonic sound to determine the height of up
to six overhead cables and wires. The instruments are designed
to address specific measuring requirements on cables up to 75
feet (23 m). The CHM600 (C/N 659600) and CHM600E (C/N 659600E)
are designed primarily for power cable applications, while the
CHM2000 is designed for telecommunication applications.
The Cable Height Meters emit short bursts of sound which
originate from the cone shaped transmitter. The microprocessor
in the instruments calculates the elapsed time for the bursts
of sound to be reflected from the cable back to the
instruments. The result can be displayed in either feet and
inches or meters. However, before the final measurement can be
displayed, the air temperature must be measured because the
speed of sound varies at approximately 0.2 percent per degree
Celsius.
A temperature sensor, mounted at the front of the instruments,
senses the actual air temperature. This information is sent to
the microprocessor and incorporated into the algorithm. The
distance is then displayed in meters or feet and inches
depending on which was

The Model 830220-1 Cable Phasing Meter offers a safe and quick method
of measuring voltage and determining phase rotation of underground
distribution systems using the capacitance test point of elbow connectors.
Most manufacturers of high-voltage cable terminators incorporate
capacitance test points into their elbow connectors. These test points are
designed for measuring purposes.

• Used for testing single phase power and distribution
transformers
• Design based on precision bridge measuring technique
• Available in hand-cranked or line-operated models
• Unmatched accuracy (±0.1%) in a portable design
The Single Phase TTR, Transformer Turns Ratio Test Set,
measures the turns ratio and exciting current of windings in
power, potential and current transformers. Deviations in turns
ratio readings indicate problems in one or both windings or the
magnetic core circuit.
The TTR test set aids in identifying:
• Shorted coils
• Open circuits
• Incorrect connections
• Internal faults or tap-changer defects in step regulators as
well as in transformers.
The single phase model is available in either hand-cranked or
line-operated versions and measures highly sensitive turns ratios
of up to 129.99:1 with accuracy of ±0.1%. An optional auxilary
transformer extends the ratio range to 329.99:1.
The TTR set operates on the principle that the voltage ratio of
the transformer at no load is practically equal to the true turns
ratio.

BIDDLE Three-Phase TTR
Three-Phase Transformer Turns Ratio Test Set
• Fully automatic

• Measures three phases simultaneously
• Highest ratio measurement (10,000:1); highest
accuracy (0.1%)
• Built-in storage and downloading capabilities
• Measures ALL power transformers, PT's and CT's
• Displays % error vs. name plate and pass/fail
limits
• Operator choice of "quick" test or
complete "full" test
• CE certified

|
The Biddle Three-Phase Automatic TTR is
designed to measure the turns ratio of power, instrument,
and distribution transformers in a substation or
manufacturing environment. At 16.5 lbs (7.5 kg), it weighs
less than any other commercially available instrument. A
rugged and robust design makes this TTR well suited for use
in a variety of harsh environments. The TTR is also
particularly suited for testing in power transformer
manufacturing environments where testing of complex,
three-phase substation power transformers can be performed
quickly while minimizing the possibility of errors.
This new TTR measures the highest turns ratio range in the
industry (10,000:1) and also provides the highest accuracy
(0.1%). No other instrument's performance is comparable that
is commercially available today.
