In an ideal world, every current would put out a clean signal, making multimeter readings 100% accurate. However, when a non-linear waveform is present, the average multimeter can be under by as much as 34-40% or over by as much as 8-10%. With these non-linear waveforms becoming more prevalent in modern electronics, a true RMS clamp meter is ideal as it does not rely on the standard averaging method to calculate AC current or voltage.

The Extech 382400 current clamp provides you with the ability to quickly and easily test a large cables or bundles of wires all at once with a 24″ flexible current probe that easily wraps itself around bus bars and cable bundles, making current testing a snap.

The 382400 is a true RMS AC current clamp with the ability to test AC voltage up to 600V with a fast peek of 30μs and selectable frequency of either 50Hz or 60Hz. The large 4,000 count LCD dual display is capable of simultaneously displaying frequency with either current or voltage, effectively reducing the number of tests that need to be run.

The 382400 also features a MIN/MAX recall setting which allows you to store various test readings and recall them at a later time for comparison.

The device comes complete with a 24″ flexible current probe, carrying case, and 2 AA batteries.
