Datalogger & Software
Global Water’s WE800 Weather Station Data Logger offers state-of-the-arttechnology for continuous data logging, storing and retrieving of weatherstation information. All weather stations include the GL500 Data Logger,Global Water Data Logger Software, and a RS232 cable (for communication betweenthe logger and your computer).
The GL500 Data Logger, the weather station’s durable and powerful datalogging and recording unit, is enclosed in a sturdy weatherproof case. Theweather station data logger will operate for several months before its internal12VDC battery requires recharging. When used in conjunction with solarpanels, the weather station data logger can be powered continuously. TheGL500 Data Logger includes a real-time clock that dates and time stamps eachrecord. Weather station data can be accessed easily either through areal-time data screen or through a log of recorded data (programming andcalibration are not required). Maximums, minimums, and averages can alsobe obtained from the data using most spreadsheet programs. All weatherstation data collected by the weather station data recorder can easily betransferred to a disk file for future analysis and storage. The weatherstation data can be imported into any standard spreadsheet program.
The Weather Station Data Logger includes Global Water Weather Station DataLogger Software, Windows-based software that provies many useful features, suchas real-time readout, measurement interval, engineering unit selection, stationID setting, and sensor calibration. The weather station’s software makesaccessing stored data and setting options easy. Data downloaded from allWeather Stations can easily be opened in any PC spreadsheet program for analysisand graphic presentation. Global Water’s Weather Station Data LoggerSoftware will run on a PC-type laptop or desktop computer running Windows 95 orlater. To communicate with the Weather Station Data Logger, a computermust be equipped with a standard RS232 serial communication port.
Mounting Hardware
Global Water’s Weather Stations include full assembly on a sturdy and durable1″ stainless steel tube frame that can be mounted onto a pre-existing baseor onto the WE830 Global Water Weather Station Tripod for upright installation. The Weather Station frame is designed for durability and endurance in harshconditions. The WE770 Solar Shield, a ventilated sun shield with highreflectiveness, low heat retention, and low thermoconductivity, is provided asprotection for the Temperature and Humidity sensors. Global Water highlysuggests using the solar shield to protect the Temperature and Humidity sensorsfrom direct sunlight. Temperature and Humidity sensors will not readaccurately if exposed to direct sunlight.
Power
A 12VDC 2A-H rechargeable battery is included with the Global Weather StationData Logger for use in remote applications. This battery can be used inconjunction with solar panels for reliable continuous use.
Proper siting for weather station sensors is important to ensure accuratereadings. For example, wind sensors should not be installed too close to abuilding, as turbulence created by the building can interfere with readings. The Solar Radiation sensor should be installed in direct sunlight on a levelsurface (bubble level and leveling screws are included with purchase).
Purchase of both the Wind Direction and Wind Speed sensors includes aT-mounting bar with a 1″ stainless steel coupling unit and allen wrench foreasy allen set screw instalation. Individual wind sensors or solarradiation sensors include 1″ stainless steel elbow couplers and an allenwrench. The Solar Shield (with a stainless steel elbow coupler) can beused for protection and easy installation of the Temperature and Humiditysensors. The Barometric Pressure sensor can be mounted with straps for avariety of applications (including inside a datalogger or to a display forhand-held use).
