PortableDissolved Oxygen Meters Product Description
ÿ
The WTW Oxi 1970i Portable Dissolved Oxygen Meterscombine everything you want in a portable dissolved oxygen meter for water, wastewater and environmental monitoring.ÿ Like all the WTW ProfiLine seriesmeters the Oxi 1970i Portable Dissolved Oxygen Meters are nearly indestructiblewith both hose down proof (IP 66) and submersible (IP 67) ratings.ÿ But theOxi 1970i Portable Dissolved Oxygen Meter is also very accurate, capable andeasy to use.ÿ Along with an 800 data point datalogger, a real time clockand recorder output, the ProfiLine Oxi 1970i Portable Dissolved Oxygen Meterconforms to all GLP requirements.ÿ With its large, easy to read display,carrying/support handle and carrying strap the Oxi 1970i Portable DissolvedOxygen Meter goes with you wherever you need to do dissolved oxygen measurements- even on your bench top.
ÿ
The Oxi 1970i Portable Dissolved OxygenMeters ship complete with NiMH rechargeable batteries, dual-voltage 110/220 VACadapter, and neck strap.ÿ A DO probe is not included with the portabledissolved oxygen meters.ÿ Choose from one of the two waterproof DO probeslisted below or call us if you need a special purpose electrode for yourportable dissolved oxygen meter.
ÿ
TA 197 Oxi deep water dissolvedoxygen probe
The Oxi 1970i Portable Dissolved Oxygen Meters are great for measurements inbore holes (down to 2″ diameter), wells and deep bodies of water with theability to take measurements down to 330 ft (100 m) in combination with the TA197 Oxi depth armature.ÿ The TA 197 Oxi submersible dissolved oxygen probeincludes up to 330 feet (100 m) cable with waterproof plug (IP 67),pressure-resistant steel armoring with screw-off protective hood, and ispressure-resistant to 145 psi (10 bar).
ÿ
CellOx? 325 Dissolved Oxygen Probe

- Temperature compensation
- Up to 6 months usage of membrane
- High signal resolution
- Rapid response
- Waterproof sensor up to 29 psi (2 bar)
- Membrane leakage monitoring
What is Dissolved Oxygen?
Some oxygen is dissolved in practically every liquid. For example, at atemperature of 68 øF (20 øC) and an atmospheric pressure of 1013 mbarsaturated water contains about 9 mg/l oxygen.ÿ Ethanol can contain up to 40mg/l whereas glycerol only has about 2 mg/l.
ÿ
Each liquid takes up oxygen until the partialpressure of oxygen in the liquid is in equilibrium with the air or gas phase incontact with it.ÿ The actual oxygen concentration depends on a number offactors, such as temperature, air pressure, oxygen consumption by microorganismsin a biodegradation process or oxygen production by algae, etc.
ÿ
The oxygen concentration is important forthe:
- Living conditions for fish and microorganisms in waters
- Degradation processes in wastewater treatment
- Corrosion processes in pipelines
- Shelf life of beverages, etc.
The determination of the dissolved oxygenconcentration was formerly carried out by the WINKLER titration method.ÿToday electrochemical measurement is a recognized method in numerous standardprocedures.
ÿ
In its simplest form a dissolved oxygensensor contains a working electrode and a counterelectrode.ÿ Bothelectrodes are located in an electrolyte system which is separated from thesample by a gas-permeable membrane.ÿ The working electrode reduces theoxygen molecules to hydroxide ions.ÿ In this electrochemical reaction acurrent flows from the counterelectrode to the working electrode.ÿ The moredissolved oxygen present in the sample, the larger the current signal.ÿ Thedissolved oxygen meter calculates the oxygen concentration in the sample fromthis signal.
